"There is no sentence too short to be acceptable in the eyes of God" Willian Zinsser We should be concise when communicating our ideas. It is no about quantity, but quality.
My sentence of the week: "Mean what you say, and say what you mean, but don't say it mean"
I love this. I am a person that takes this statement to heart. I only say things I mean to say, I always mean what I say and I’m always careful in how I deliver my thoughts. I think before I speak and I think if you read between the lines, that’s how this quote is supposed to be interpreted.
In a sense, I feel the quote I mentioned above goes along with the second quote in the original post “We should be concise when communicating our ideas. It is not about quantity, but quality.” Think about what you’re going to say and how you’re going to deliver it and leave the nonsense out.
My Sentence of the Week I had read The Killer Angels for my history class and I came across sentences that I really like. It said, "... oh hast thou forgotten how soon we must sever? Oh has thou forgotten how soon we must part? It may be for years, it may be forever..." I love the style of the writing. How smooth it just falls of the tongue. Sentence of the Week
are we commenting on the sentence? or are we finding one of our own that we feel goes along with this one?
ReplyDeleteI think the second sentence is true, that's what I tell my kids it isn't how much you have. It's the quality of what you have at hand.
